Video Poker is a beloved game that can be gambled on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, through a net account. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. On this account it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning players are agile enough to select the most money-making game each and every time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
